This is what these forums are about aren’t they? Ubuntu comes with Firefox as a browser and yes you are correct about deleting cookies and temp files, but this person wants to delete flash files that are stored in those temp directories that Firefox doesn’t use and doesn’t give you the option of deleting through Firefox. Cookies in Firefox – Stack Overflow

Also, cookies.sqlite may not be flushed to disk until Firefox exits, so you can’t assume that the file on disk contains the cookies you need if Firefox is still running

I suppose a way could be invented for a site to tell the browser that the cookie needs to be protected with a password, but then you just defeated the whole point of a persistent login. I wouldn’t save passwords, form and search history, browse history etc anyway, but clearing cookies and active logins means I spend some time every time I open a browser just to login to various websites that I commonly visit

Website operators use cookies to keep track of past visits and interactions with the site; for example, a cookie can reflect the fact that a user has already made a purchase before or even contain his login credentials. For example, for Mozilla Firefox, type the following command into the Terminal: ls -l cookies.sqlite Ubuntu will list the information for the file containing all cookies for your Firefox default user profile

Ubuntu 12.04: A Stairway To Heaven? – Linux notes from DarkDuck

Taking into consideration that default tab is “Recent applications and documents”, it’s getting too annoying to move mouse across the monitor twice: first time to switch the tab, and then to activate search, filtering or select an application. There is limited space on launcher until it becomes too obese for quick access. If you have many applications to use, or use some of them from time to time, then navigation through the menu is not the most convenient thing in Unity.Of course, this is only IMHO

Without digressing too much, the fact that Windows is such a popular OS with no controlled software sources makes it easy for viruses and malware to spread. sounder – Tracking Cookies on Ubuntu

  http://ubuntu.5.x6.nabble.com/Tracking-Cookies-on-Ubuntu-td1884407.html
Should Ubuntu provide an application, possibly integrated with Computer Janitor, that checks for such things? Although it would have a negative effect on Linux’ image of being a virusless OS, it could be of great use to the users and make people more aware that even on Linux you should be careful with security. Isn’t that fine?? Of course, a program cannot go out of its address space, but there are exceptions like stack overflow, but can a deamon find such situations?? Marc – that would like to put a deamon on his computer, so that everyhing is covered when the damn thing gets broke
